Where Was UX Come From? By Christopher Alexander.


Have you ever wondered where was the term UX came from? In the book A Pattern Language, Alexander introduces the concept of construction design mode. By defining a series of constructive features, Alexander tried to depicts the essence that brought residents happiness. The ultimate goal of Alexander resembles those of UX designers. They are both trying to gain likeness for their products. However, there is one big distinction. UX not only pay attention to structures and intertwine of elements, it also focuses on and examines relevant users' activity and changes. Those changes can be based on time, according to Alexander, which is interesting because these changes reacts to software condition and human activities.


This book constructs a strong and practical language for building and provides a clear logic path leading to UX. It gives an overview of over 250 patterns in designing. Readers will be able to find themselves getting easier in distinguishing and solving problems they encounter in designing career.
